Polklore Micro‑Museum

The Polklore Micro‑Museum honors the history of Polk Stables and the Martindale‑Brightwood neighborhood.

Created in partnership with

a Changing Corridor

Created with the Harrison Center for the Arts and Polk Stables, Polklore sits along the Monon Trail at the 16th Street corridor, where neighbors, artists, and builders shape the city together. The museum preserves stories that help visitors understand how this place moved milk across Indianapolis and how it now moves ideas, skills, and small businesses forward.

How Polklore grows

Polklore grows through collaboration. Neighbors and long‑time residents selected the stories and artifacts. Artists recorded oral histories, curated heirlooms into installations, and produced audio and video that bring those voices to life. Interactive moments and light use of augmented reality invite visitors to listen, look closer, and add their own perspective.

Connecting past and present

Today, Polklore connects past and present inside Polk Stables. Founders, creatives, students, and visitors engage with the neighborhood’s story and see how shared memory fuels new work. The museum reflects what happens across the building every day: people meet, make, and build together.
